2025 State Championship

We are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting the first in-person State Championship since 2013!

This tournament is only open to Alaska residents, members of the US Military who are stationed in Alaska, and students enrolled in an Alaska college that are present in Alaska. For the rated sections, all participating players must have "AK" selected as their state of residence in their USCF player profile.

Date: Saturday, October 4, 2025

Location: The Lakefront Anchorage

Entry fee: $50 (cancellations will occur a 50% fee). Players can begin paying entry fees in July.

Sections: All sections will be playing G40 time control

1. 1. Open (USCF rated)- winner will be given the title of 2025 Alaska State Chess Champion

   2. Under 1100 (USCF rated)- winner will be given the title of 2025 Alaska State U1100 Chess Champion

   3. Non-USCF rated- no official title will be given, but the winner(s) will be given a prize

Prizes: TBD- over $500 in cash prizes will be awarded!

Hotel discounts: The Lakefront Anchorage Hotel is offering discounted room rates for 10/3 and 10/4. Discounted rates are $145/night plus tax. We have reserved 30 rooms. Please call the hotel to book (907-243-2300).

Opening announcements: 8:00 - 8:30a

Round 1: 8:30 - 9:50a

Round 2: 10:05 - 11:25a

Lunch: 11:25 - 12:25p

Round 3: 12:25 - 1:45p

Round 4: 2:00 - 3:20p

Round 5: 3:35 - 4:55p

Dinner: 4:55 - 6:25p

Round 6: 6:25 - 7:45p

Closing: 7:45 - 8:45p
